LinuxMINT is the real deal, period.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

I told you before about LinuxMint, the latest OS I've been playing with, it's a downstream version of ubuntu, and it is damn beautiful, and the most functional OS I have installed to this moment of time ... everything just works out of the box, I have not faced any problems since I installed it, I only still have windows to use a program called "ABC amber book converter" to convert my books from .lit to other formats so that I can read them on my PDA on iSilo ... but I haven't tried running that program in WINE (a program that lets you run windows programs on linux ;) ...) yet, and if it works, I won't have an excuse to remove windows once and for all off my system! there's a video above for you to check out my installation of LinuxMint, note that my laptop is an old slow one (1.5 GHz centrino - 512 MBRAM - 128 intel graphics accelerator) that's why the video is a bit buggy.

LinuxMint is fully free and open source and downloadable at http://www.linuxmint.com

Gay Artist Burns Rare $60,000.00 Koran

Posted by Ummah News Links at 7/26/2007 4:50 PM and is filed under Ummah News Links

NEW YORK, July 26 - Charles Merrill, the artist who recently edited the Holy Bible with a black marker and pair of scissors, has lately burned a rare Islamic Holy Book, The Koran, valued at $60,000.00, in an undisclosed Chicago location. "The purpose of editing and burning Abrahamic Holy Books is to eliminate homophobic hate," Merrill stated. "Both ancient books are terrorist manuals."

He continues, "I inherited the rare Islamic book from my late wife, Evangeline Johnson Merrill. As the daughter of the founder of the international pharmaceutical giant, Johnson and Johnson, Inc., doors of kings and queens opened to her around the world. Evangeline was given the rare manuscript by the late King of Jordan when she was on a mission for the United Nations in the 1950's."

"Airplanes are flown into buildings because of words, and hate crimes against gays," Merrill said.

Merrill is a self-made millionaire, artist, fervent atheist and cousin of the co-founder of Merrill Lynch.

Now there's a tenth dimension?!

And you thought you were smart? check this out ... I recommend you fire up a big dubey and fly away with this scientific crapness (new word! seems the dubey is workin ...)

3D illusion imagery .... mess up your brain.

What you see here is just a couple of frames taken from two slightly different angles with a high speed camera, I guess ... animating the image to and fro through the two frames gives us the illusion of 3D

A Battery that works for 30 years!

Finaly a breakthrough we all have been waiting for!

Your next laptop could have a continuous power battery that lasts for 30 years without a single recharge thanks to work being funded by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory. The breakthrough betavoltaic power cells are constructed from semiconductors and use radioisotopes as the energy source. As the radioactive material decays it emits beta particles that transform into electric power capable of fueling an electrical device like a laptop for years.

Although betavoltaic batteries sound Nuclear they’re not, they’re neither use fission/fusion or chemical processes to produce energy and so (do not produce any radioactive or hazardous waste). Betavoltaics generate power when an electron strikes a particular interface between two layers of material. The Process uses beta electron emissions that occur when a neutron decays into a proton which causes a forward bias in the semiconductor. This makes the betavoltaic cell a forward bias diode of sorts, similar in some respects to a photovoltaic (solar) cell. Electrons scatter out of their normal orbits in the semiconductor and into the circuit creating a usable electric current.

The profile of the batteries can be quite small and thin, a porous silicon material is used to collect the hydrogen isotope tritium which is generated in the process. The reaction is non-thermal which means laptops and other small devices like mobile phones will run much cooler than with traditional lithium-ion power batteries. The reason the battery lasts so long is that neutron beta-decay into protons is the world's most concentrated source of electricity, truly demonstrating Einstein’s theory E=MC2.

The best part about these cells are when they eventually run out of power they are totally inert and non-toxic, so environmentalists need not fear these high tech scientific wonder batteries. If all goes well plans are for these cells to reach store shelves in about 2 to 3 years.

At last, a real talent on a talent show!

Monday, October 1, 2007

This guy made the female judge burst into tears and genuinely impressed Simon Cowel, and you know how hard this is, and I personally think he sang "Nessun Dorma" better than the late Luciano Pavarotti himself, I like his version better, I've provided the video for you, this is a MUST see ...
